The Netherlands awarded contact to build National Mobility as a Service Platform
The Netherlands is the first country in the world, which is looking to build national mobility as a service platform. The agency has appointed Siemens Mobility subsidiaries Hacon to build a national integrated travel planning platform by the autumn. In April 2020, all the key transit agencies in Amsterdam, The Hague, and Rotterdam came together to build the platform.
- Gemeentelijk Vervoerbedrijf (GVB)
- Haagsche Tramweg Maatschapp (HTM)
- Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS)
- Rotterdamse Elektrische Tram (RET)
MaaS platform expected to be completed in autumn 2021, will be designed as an open system that can be linked to existing apps operated by NS, HTM, and RET. The three partners are keen for other transport operators to join to provide a multi-modal platform.
The three companies call on other mobility providers to join so that traveling by public transport, bicycle sharing, car, scooter, and taxi, can be better connected and more convenient.
