SEA Singapore partnered with BlueBird to launch Mobility Services
Sea Limited is a leading global consumer internet company founded in Singapore. The company is the largest technology player in the South East Asia region, offering 3 key services – Garena (Digital Entertainment), Shopee (E-commerce), and SeaMonkey (Digital Financial Services).
Sea is the latest entrant to the mobility market and has tie-up with BlueBird Group to offer taxi-hailing services in Indonesia. The riders can book the ride through Sea’s e-commerce app Shopee in Indonesia. This will intensify the competition between Southeast Asian super apps (Grab and Go-jek).
Sea built its partnership with Blue Bird over the period. In August 2020, Shopee established a logistics service called BirdKirim in partnership with Blue Bird, where users can use Blue Bird drivers for courier deliveries. Further, MyBlueBird app integrated ShopeePay as payment options, allowing customers to earn cash back.
Currently, Sea did not share its plan to launch a similar service in other markets but it is clear that mobility will become a key offering in Sea portfolio.
