Move2Earn App: Gamification, Technology, and Rewarding Transit Riders
The emergence of Web3 and Blockchain technologies are also creating new business models. There is a new concept in Web3 that incentivizes users to perform certain activities which are tracked using blockchain technologies. Many blockchain gaming companies launched Play2Earn ideas to engage users with gaming. Most of these rewards are given in form of NFTs or tokens.
Move2Earn and Learn2Earn are emerging as new concepts. As the name implies, Learn2Earn is the process of learning about something in exchange for rewards. Move2Earn is a new segment in blockchain and offers rewards to users to take their health seriously or lately use more active or green modes of transport. Move2Earn incorporates the concepts of Game-Fi, Social Network, and NFTs to incentivize participants.
Currently, most of the Move2Earn games are either walking, running, or like Fitbit app that tracks your exercise routine, and you get rewarded with tokens. The users acquire NFTs and the more NFTs you have of a certain level allows you to earn more of the token and that token can then be sold in an exchange in a public exchange or the users can exchange those tokens for other things.
Another emerging area is to implement Move2Earn protocol to encourage individuals to use more sustainable or green mobility options. The users can save carbon emissions which can be converted into NFTs, crypto tokens, or other rewards. Mobility players can earn carbon credits for individual behavior and generate additional revenue. The idea is to gamify the whole travel journey for riders and reward users for their sustainable behavior.
WheelCoin, an app developed by Iomob, is the world’s first move2earn web3 app to incentivize users for making greener mobility choices. The WheelCoin app was launched as a private beta on September 15th for the first 5,000 OG subscribers. The app will detect a user’s movements walking, on public transit, rail, and bike. It can also detect if a user is in a car or a plane but neither of those will receive rewards. The company will launch the WheelCoin token in one month which will be transferred to users for emission saved.
Mobix is move2earn app, which allows users to earn MOBIX Miles for riding their bikes, e-Bikes, e-Scooters, e-Mopeds, running, and walking. The app is built on COSMOS Network. The users can convert their MOBIX miles into MOBIX tokens. The users require to create wallets to convert the token. Mobix has also launched NFTs for real-world micromobility into the metaverse.
VicMove is a web3 fitness and lifestyle mobile app with inbuilt NFT gaming and Social-fi elements which allows users to earn rewards just by movement like walking, running, and cycling. The users can sign up and need the sneaker NFT. After the purchase, users can start working out, participate in the game and earn our in-game cryptocurrency – VIM. Users can either cash out the tokens or use them for other activities. The app is built on BNB Smart Chain.
STEP’N is a Web3 lifestyle app with inbuilt Game-Fi and Social-Fi elements, built around an essential daily activity. STEP’N aims to nudge millions toward a healthier lifestyle, combat climate change and connect the public to Web 3.0. The app is built on the Solana blockchain and requires users to run or walk outdoors to earn GST (Green Satoshi Token). New users buy into the game with an initial investment. In return, the user receives an NFT in the form of a digital shoe and can start earning tokens by moving for a set amount of time per day.
Move2Earn is a new concept and will evolve over the period of time. Currently, most of the apps in this space are focusing on healthy lifestyles and gaming. However, this will create a good case for engaging a new generation of riders with public transport and green mobility options. There are some other startups that are encouraging users to use more sustainable modes of transport like Miles and Greenlines. Many more startups will emerge to gamify customer engagements. New mobility players like e-scooters (Lime, Bird etc.), scooter-sharing, and carsharing companies may launch Move2Earn feature in their app soon.
